ADVERTISING – THE REAL DEAL!

The Easter edition of Life’s A Beach magazine will be on the streets in a few days. Enjoy it. It’s FREE and there’s not much of that around these days.  Welcome to our Easter visitors!  I see that there are already quite a lot of up-country cars around in the South coast region.  As usual Life’s A Beach has the latest news on body boarding from Martin Otto.  Also we would like to welcome to the magazine Ant Brodowicz who gives us the lowdown on South Coast surfing.

Now! for my usual pitch for the very best in advertising here goes…

The buzz word for today is consolidation.  That’s a polite way of saying the world’s economy is in “free-fall” and the only way to survive is to cut back.  Big companies all around us are reducing their outlets from 5 branches to one.  This goes particularly for the motor sales and property sectors.

South Africa is not immune to this blight.  We may pull out of the dive a bit sooner than the rest of the world because of our finance minister’s diligent work on “keeping the market fundamentals sound” over the last decade, but one would have to be blind, deaf and “dof” not to notice the trend.

A big mistake is to cut back on so called non-essentials; in particular advertising.  When markets are falling there is less money to go round.  Thus a smaller pool of buyers for whatever product or service you may be selling. A smaller pool of buyers means more competition to capture a slice of this shrinking pool of buyers.  Aggressive advertising in this market is essential but your adspend has to be carefully calculated so as to give the maximum “bang for your buck”

This is where we come in.

For a cost of R1000-00 – we can give you exciting advertising for 365 days  That’s ALL YEAR ROUND in:

a quarterly magazine Life’s A Beach (3 months duration)

The Beachcomber Directory (that’s The Phone Book, a business directory that gives all the listings FREE, Colourful, attractive advertising, maps of major areas, a full year’s tide table, Emergency numbers and; to top it all an identical ad in the Beachcomber website that automatically links to your own company’s website whenever a customer clicks on your ad in The Beachcomber) (currently the deal is 6 months in the printed book plus 9 months in the websiteplus 3 extra bold listings in other categories) All this adds up to a full year of exposure for your business)

What are you waiting for?

Grab it While You Can!!

Hi! all you beach lovers, shell collectors, swimmers and all others who are hooked on the beach.  It’s starting to get a bit cooler now so those of you who like to swim in the “bathwater” temperature of KZN South in the summertime, better get out there before it’s wetsuit time again.

Personally, having spent a number of years in Fish Hoek in Cape Town I am quite happy to swim in the South coast water on warm days all year round.  Try Fish Hoek beach if you think KZN South coast water is cold in Winter.

The other thing that you must grab while you can is the Beachcomber Directory.  It’s freely available at all information centres, major hotels, supermarkets and many restaurants in the area’ particularly around Port Shepstone,  Shelly Beach and Margate areas. It has everything you need and it’s FREE!!

Enjoy the beach and cheers for now.

The Beachcomber Rocks!

It’s everywhere on the South Coast of KZN.  Its beautiful! It works!

Grab yourself a copy. Keep it in your car, on your desk and definitely next to the phone.  Place an ad in the Beachcomber.  Your ad will appear on the website within a week and your business WILL BENEFIT!!  The cost is a fraction of that of any other type of advertising.  Call us now on 039 681 3673 or go onto the website at www.thebeachcomber.co.za. We are waiting to hear from you so your business can take off!!  My number is 082 681 5103 .

Beach Meditation

Hi Guys.  It’s me again. Rambling on about nothing as usual.  For me & I’m sure many other beach lovers It’s true to say that if you’re feeling a bit low the best way way to lift your spirits & get your thoughts back on track is of course the beach.  Southport Beach happens to be the nearest beach for me & a meandering walk with your dogs, children etc or just all on your lonesome amongst the crashing waves with lots of fresh sea air thrown in is the only answer.

OK ramblin is over.  Grab yourself a copy of the Beachcomber Directory ASAP. It’s the best thing ever to hit the South Coast & You really need one!   You will use it every day. We have a great deal for you called the Combimedia Deal which gives you ongoing advertising starting now & runs until December 2009 at a ludicrously low price.  Get your business or activity on the map. so all of the rest of us can benefit.

Just call 039 681 3673 or 082 781 5103 or E-mail  hugo@thebeachcomber.co.za & the rest will happen like magic.  Cheers everybody!

Life’s A Beach – What’s new?

What’s new is that the Beachcomber Directory is taking off like a rocket and huge thanks! to all you South Coasters who took ads from us for your businesses and helped make this whole process possible.  We are delighted with the response and I am absolutely convinced that all over the South Coast of KZN there are hundreds of people who are using the telephone Directory booklet to enquire about or order anything form a pizza to an ambulance.  If you have a problem or a need of any kind – pick up the Beachcomber the answer is there and it’s the fastest way to get information about anything.

Also we are already selling ads in the reprint scheduled for June and it’s going great!  Give me a call at 0396813673 or E-mail me at hugo@thebeachcomber.co.za & I will arrange for your company to be featured on the website pronto. We also have a combined deal whereby you can advertise in The Beachcomber as well as the Easter edition of Life’s A Beach at a very competitive discount price. This way you can have advertising for the rest of this year in a directory, a popular magazine and a website at a price that will knock your eyes out!

Now for something more “Beachy”. Here is my recipe for Hugo’s creamy black mussels.  Get to the nearest beach at low tide (the tide table at the back of the Beachcomber will tell you when the tide is right)

Clean the mussels roughly. Chuck them in a pot with a lttle water, pour a glass of dry white wine over them.  Steam for about 10 minutes until the shells open.  If any don’t open, discard those. put in a colander to cool.  Open them up & take the meat and “beards” out.  Dont chuck away the juice. Strain the juice.  Give the mussel meat another rinse to get rid of the sand. Chuck the mussel meat back in the pot with the strained juice. add a cupful of cream. Lots of black pepper. Add some chicken stock & simmer for 5 minutes and “Voila” you will have a heavenly dish.

Cheers for now.  I’m going to get some mussels as its low tide at 12 today.

The Beachcomber is Out

Finally, after a false start in December The Beachcomber Directory is OUT!!  It’s FREE, it’s fabulous and with in the next few days it will be available throughout the South Coast region from Scottburgh to Ramsgate and shortly thereafter Port Edward.

From Fishing tackle to Fine Food to the very best accommodation or anything else your heart desires it’s available in the Beachcomber.

There is a full year’s tide tables for the fishing fundis.  There are emergency numbers for those in need.

Because we had a fantastic response to the first issue and the whole concept of printed directory plus website directory and because we just know that many, many businesses who missed the boat on the first edition will want to be part of the Beachcomber we have decided to reprint the magazine in either june or July 2009.  Thus we will be contacting all businesses in the South Coast from now onwards until about the April 2009.

Regarding Life’s A Beach Magazine, we have a great discount deal for those of you who would like an advert in both the Beachcomber reprint as well as the Easter Life’s A Beach magazine.

Best wishes to all for a terrific 2009.

Happy New Year!!

Hi everybody. Tomorrow is New Year’s Eve and Brenda and I wish you all a wonderful evening and a Happy and PROSPEROUS New Year for 2009.

We arrived at the printers to collect the Beachcomber Dierctory and to our horror discovered that they had made some fundamental and damaging mistakes in the publication. This was totally unacceptable to us and would not have been acceptable to all our clients on the South Coast. Thus we had no alternative but to insist on a total reprint. Because of the holidays this means that the Beachcomber will only be distributed on approximately the 15 th or 16th January 2009. We apologise for this and can only assure you all that the book will be coming out at that time and it will be Right!!
